Netscape Mail: How do I set up Netscape 6 or 7 Mail for my e-mail account?

1. Open the Mail and Newsgroups client for Netscape.
 

If you do not see a Netscape Mail and Newsgroups icon, open Netscape, and select the Window menu > Mail and Newsgroups menu option to open the Netscape Mail client.

2. Click Edit.

3. Select Mail/News Account Settings from the drop-down menu.



4. On the left-hand side of the Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings window, select Outgoing Server (SMTP).

5. In the right-hand side of the window, enter smtp.[your domain name] into the Server Name field. Example: smtp.systel.net. Then enter your account name. Your account name is your entire e-mail address. Click OK.



6. Click New Account (for Netscape 7.0, the button says Add Account)



7. The Account Wizard window opens.

8. In the New Account Setup screen, select the button next to the ISP or e-mail provider option (for Netscape 7.0, this option is titled Email account).
 


9. Click Next, and the Identity screen opens.

10. In the Your Name field, enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From field of your outgoing messages.

11. In the E-mail Address field, enter your complete e-mail address.



12. Click Next.

13. The Server Information screen will open.

14. Select the button next to POP for the incoming server.

15. Enter smtp.[your domain name] into the Server Name field. Example: smtp.systel.net.



16. Click Next.

17. The User Name screen will open.

18. In the User Name field, type your user name. Your username name is your entire e-mail address.



19. Click Next.

20. The Account Name screen opens.

21. Enter your e-mail address in the Account Name field.



22. Click Next.

23. The Congratulations! screen will appear confirming your User Name and Email Address.



24. Click Finish.

25. Click OK in the Account Settings dialog box to return to Netscape Mail and your new inbox.
